We watched the Oscars with husband's fam. We didn't see even half of the movies up for awards... but it was still fun.
Speaking of not seeing the movies... here is my scenario and question for you, even though I know I must ultimately make the decision for myself.
I want to see The King's Speech. It's rated R. I have never seen a rated-R movie, with exceptions of the edited versions that are sometimes played on television (I know what you're thinking... crazy Mormon girl). But not really. I don't have issues with people who watch rated R movies,
So, back to the situation at hand.
Before the Oscars, there was talk of changing the movie so it would fit the PG-13 rating. After the Oscars, it became the only option. They want more money... and a lower rating would bring it. I was really excited because now I could finally see it. Then I read some articles saying that writers and actors thought that making the film PG-13 took away some of it's authenticity. The deal is... there is supposedly a scene when the king recognizes he doesn't stutter when he swears. And he is highly, as you may expect, agitated at that fact. So he swears. Five f-bombs to be exact. The lower rating would mute three of the five. Yes, just mute.
Do I...
See the rated R movie, full integrity intact, break my streak, and hear five f-bombs?
or
See the rated PG-13 movie, loss of actual situation, keep my streak, and lipread three f-bombs whilst still hearing two?
This may be ridiculous to you. But I really want your opinion. What would YOU do?
