So remember my conquer 25 list? Yep. I'm actually doing it. Having that list has really helped me nail down things that I want to do to take care of myself mentally, emotionally, and physically. I am happy that I took the time to really think about what I wanted to accomplish for myself this year - it has been such a good thing to reflect on (especially now that my primary focus is teaching).
This ended up being a little less spontaneous than I was thinking (about a month's prep), but it was so fun. And I'm glad it was planned, otherwise, it probably wouldn't have happened. Steen knew that I really wanted to do a fun trip that was just the two of us and with such a busy summer, we had to make it a plan. We didn't really map out any further than what days we would be gone and our general destination spots; which was great! We found a hotel each night wherever we ended up, stopped when we wanted to stop, and drove and drove and drove when we didn't want to stop.
I took Steen to San Francisco and he took me to beautiful Lake Tahoe and to see the amazing giant sequoias in Big Trees National Park - his choices were obviously the highlights. We also stopped to visit family in Camino, CA and bummed around one night in Carson City, NV. The trip ended up being exactly what I wanted. We didn't do anything really extravagant (to save money) so it ended up just about being together in new places.
